Bo Diddley
His churning rhythm guitar was the real birth of rock and roll. Sure, Chuck Berry had the kids twistin' at the hop, but Bo Diddley was one of the first to bridge the gap between blues and rock. He died Monday at age 79.
There are lots of obits out there, but here is a New York Times article about him published five years ago that says more than any obit can.
